Asmus Farm Supply has a long history in seed sales which began in 1964 with Harvey Asmus in Pioneer Hybrid Seed sales. This commitment to high quality seed options for our growers continues today with the entire professional seed agronomist team at AFS.
Every grower’s operation is important to us and we strive to provide you with sound agronomic seed recommendations to help maximize production and profitability on ever acre. We listen to your needs and create a customized plan for your individual situation, placing hybrids and varieties in the most productive environments. We believe you are more than just a customer, you are a partner and when our partners succeed, we succeed.
AFS supports a variety of seed brands. All of our brands offer a high level of quality and align with whatever your needs may be. Two of our locations house Pioneer Hybrid Pro Reps, while our other locations partner with numerous varieties and brands. Having healthy personable relationships with these seed companies helps AFS to offer options to best handle the challenges our framing partners face.
AFS Seed Catalog
Every year, AFS seed provides our customers with a seed catalog that highlights some of our proven performers that are must plants for many operations as well as some high management, high yielding hybrids. Keep in mind, this catalog doesn’t represent all the seed products we have to offer. There are many other choices of traits and non-GMO products in addition to those highlighted in our seed catalog.
When you’re in need of superior seed solutions for your fields – whether it’s soybean, corn or other row crops – the Asmus Farm Supply Seed Department can help you meet your needs.
Cover crop seed is also a new concept being adopted in the upper Midwest and the AFS, Inc. Seed Department is helping clients utilize this environmentally sustainable management practice. Some management goals for which farmers use cover crops include:
- Suppressing weeds
- Protecting soil from rain or runoff
- Improving soil aggregate stability
- Fixing nitrogen
- Scavenging soil nitrogen
- Suppressing soil diseases and pests
For more information and resources on cover crop, please contact Bil Schrader, Seed Department Manager in our Rake Office or give him a call at 641.566.3658
